Soapbox laptop.
This project started as product dissection. I decided to choose a laptop I found in a dumpster.
I spent some time pulling it apart and understanding what was inside
And I made this little diagram to present everything
The plan was to take this e-waste, and convert it to be something useful .
I found out about magic mirrors, custom programs used to turn displays into widget displays
This required learning software configuration and development. As it turns out, I hated it.
This process went through a lot of trial and error to get working.
This is the state that my magic mirror was in by the end.
It features the time and date, the weather of the city, different, upcoming rain, the news, and any upcoming calendar events.
While this was being worked on, i developed the stand for the screen.
I originally wanted to make the stand wood, before changing my mind and making it plexiglass
